JZJN is a design studio focused at the intersection of architecture, art and fabrication.
JZJN offers services in architectural design, project management, exhibition design, and custom fabrication. JZJN’s unique design perspective merges concept and construction in a meaningful way. To each of their projects they bring a fresh sensibility, affinity for pure materials, clean yet subtle detailing, and purposeful experience.
Founding partners Mandy Johnson and James Jarzyniecki are multidisciplinary designers and fabricators. They each received a Master of Architecture degree with distinction from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. They have 14 years combined experience working for award-winning architecture firms in NYC and Boston, including Selldorf Architects, Kennedy Violich, Alex Scott Porter, ikd, and KMDG. Together Mandy and James pursue the edge between art and architecture.
Mandy and James have been recognized with numerous honors, including the prestigious American Institute of Architects Henry Adams Medal and a selected fellowship with Architecture OMI. Their work has been exhibited at OMI International Art Center, Gallery 440 NYC, BSA SPACE Boston, and the Shed Space Brooklyn. Their curatorial and exhibition work has been featured in numerous publications including Creative Boom, thisispaper, OEN, Minimalissimo and Art New England. Clients include the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (Mass MoCA), Williams College Museum of Art, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, et al. In early 2016 they moved their practice from New York City to North Adams, MA and founded outside, a storefront gallery for contemporary art & design.
